Founded in 1988, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence – DFKI today is the world’s largest research centre in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With institutes in Kaiserslautern, Saarbrücken, Bremen (with an associated branch in Osnabrück), and a project office in Berlin, the non-profit German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence ranks among the important “Centers of Excellence” worldwide. An important element of DFKI’s mission is to move innovations as quickly as possible from the laboratory into the marketplace. Only by maintaining research projects at the forefront of science DFKI has the strength to meet its technology transfer goals. R&D is carried out in DFKI research labs dedicated to research on, among others, Image Understanding and Pattern Recognition, Knowledge Management, Information Systems, Innovative Factory Systems, Language Technology, Intelligent User Interfaces, Intelligent Analytics for Massive Data and Robotics.
Role in the COROMA Project
DFKI will lead the implementation of the life-long learning and knowledge sharing architecture that contributes to develop systems that acquire experience to adapt continuously. This architecture will be implemented for the robot mobility, scene understanding and dexterity, and the process optimization. DFKI will be leader of WP8 “Dissemination and Communication”, working on the open research data and dissemination planning and overseeing.
